Ok, now that you have your downloaded your File Transfer Protocol manager (WS-FTP) software, the next step is to acquire domain name.

You want your domain name to be as short as possible, and relating to your marketing keywords if possible.  A .com is best, but  a .biz, .net or other extensions are acceptable.

Go to  http://www.Namecheap.com

A.) Register and sign up with Namecheap.   Make sure you don't lose your password.  PRINT it out and save it someplace safe!

B.) Search for a domain name.

Enter the name you choose in the search box   If you wanted your website to be:  http://www.aprospect.com, you would just type in aprospect into the search box.  See picture below.

In our example here we searched for aprospect.com, it's taken because I own it.  Notice that the result says "taken".  You have the option to register a .net, .org, etc, with the same root name.  If you did .net, your domain for our example would look like http://www.aprospect.net

Or you can alter the root name of your desired domain name.  Look what adding a 2 to the end of aprospect does!  It's available.

I don't recommend just adding a character or number, you want a unique identity that is all your own.

Once you have chosen one you like,  click "add to cart" and follow through with the order.

I CAN NOT STRESS ENOUGH THAT YOU NEED TO KEEP ALL THE EMAILS YOU RECEIVE IN REGARDS TO THE PURCHASE OF A DOMAIN NAME!  You do not want to lose your registration information, or any email in regards to your website. Print them out and save them with your personal important papers.  You will need to reference the information multiple times and in the future.
